Skeptics across Canada and abroad have been saddened to hear of the death of a man who may be called the founder of this country’s skeptical movement.
Henry Gordon passed away at age 89 on Saturday, January 24 after a lengthy illness.

Henry was a professional magician, journalist, book author, and leading Canadian skeptic. He was a founder, as well as the first and long-serving chair, of the Ontario Skeptics, a precursor to Skeptics Canada. He remained lifetime chair emeritus and a respected member of Skeptics Canada.
He was also a fellow of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP), now CSI. He was well-known internationally for his exposures of Uri Geller, Shirley Maclaine and other paranormal practitioners in his books, articles and television appearances.
He is survived by his wife, Zita, also a longtime skeptic, and by his daughters Rita and Sandra, and his grandchildren Laura and Joey.
The funeral is being held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27 at Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Ave. West., Toronto.
